Thank you for using ScholarPulse. This Privacy Policy explains how ScholarPulse (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) handles information when you use our application.
1. Overview
ScholarPulse is an academic paper reader that fetches publicly available research papers from the arXiv repository. We are committed to protecting your privacy. ScholarPulse does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
ScholarPulse does not collect:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
- Location data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Camera, microphone, or contact data
- Payment information
3. Data Stored on Your Device
ScholarPulse stores the following data locally on your device only:
- Saved papers – Papers you choose to bookmark are saved to your device’s local storage using Android’s
SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device, is not transmitted to any server, and is only used to display your saved papers within the app.
You can clear this data at any time by clearing the app’s storage via your device settings or by uninstalling the app.
4. Internet Access and Third-Party Services
ScholarPulse requires an internet connection to fetch academic papers. When you browse or search for papers, the app makes requests to:
- arXiv API (
export.arxiv.org) – to retrieve publicly available academic papers.
These requests include a standard User-Agent header identifying the app (ScholarPulse/1.0). No personal data is sent as part of these requests. Please refer to arXiv’s Privacy Policy for information on how arXiv handles requests to their API.
ScholarPulse does not integrate any advertising SDKs, analytics services, crash reporting services, or social media SDKs.
5. Permissions
ScholarPulse requests only the following permission:

No other device permissions are requested or used.
6. Children’s Privacy
ScholarPulse does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app does not require account creation or any form of registration.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
